"Danger Rocks"

Sunset During Low Tide at the State Fish Pier in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
8"x10" Pintura Panel with Lukas 1862 oils.
I finally finished this one. I started it Plein Air at the Fish Pier. I let it sit for awhile before finishing the sky. I was trying to get the red glow under the purple clouds just right. I'm not the best at taking pictures of paintings though.

Two Studio Painting Starts

"The Endeavour Returns" and "Niles Pond" are two Studio Paintings I've Started. Depending on the mood I'll either start a painting with a charcoal drawing or Thinned oil paint. On these two paintings I will brush away most of the charcoal and then give them a wash of Burnt Umber or Cadium Red Light thinned with Turpentine. There's a beautiful pinkish sky in the reference photo I took of the Endeavour Herring Boat returning early one morning. The Niles Pond Photo that I will be using for a reference was taken by my friend Sharon Lowe. It's a beautiful Sunrise photo taken during this past Winter at Niles Pond.
